LILBEE CHOICE GUIDE

How to Choose a Yoga Bolster

Round and rectangular bolsters both support a floor-based practice. The useful difference is the shape of the support, its width and its height. Start with the way you intend to use yours.

Choose for the support you want

For a wide, flat surface to support your torso, consider the rectangular bolster first. For a rounded shape, such as support beneath the knees, consider the round bolster. Neither format is reserved for a beginner or an advanced practitioner.

Round or rectangular: the same criteria

Both are 27 inches long. Dimensions describe each product before use; the height under your body will vary.

Round yoga bolster

Shape
Cylindrical
Product height
8 inches
Dimensions
27 × 8 × 8 inches (L × W × H)
Approximate weight
11.5 lb
Consider it when…
You want a curved support or more height than the rectangular model laid flat.

Its rounded profile can support the knees or certain chest-opening setups. More height changes the installation; it does not make a practice more advanced. Ask for guidance when learning to place support beneath your back.

Rectangular yoga bolster

Shape
Wide surface and flat base
Product height
6 inches laid flat
Dimensions
27 × 12 × 6 inches (L × W × H)
Approximate weight
15 lb
Consider it when…
You want a wider, lower surface to support the torso.

The flat base limits rolling and offers a broad area for supported forward folds or reclining setups. Its 6-inch height still needs to suit your body and the position. No format works for every posture.

Yin and restorative yoga: different intentions

Both shapes can be useful in either practice, depending on the position and support needed. In yin yoga, a prop can bring support closer and help you adjust the intensity. In restorative yoga, props generally support a resting position without seeking a pronounced stretch. For a specific class, ask your teacher which shape and height suit the proposed setups. A photo illustrates a use; it is not an instruction to reproduce a posture.

Two shapes, the same filling

Made in Quebec, our bolsters share Loop25 filling made from new, clean textile off-cuts. The outer cover is 100% polyester with Endurepel treatment. Shape and dimensions change the support; they do not mean a different filling. The inner bag is sealed: do not plan to remove filling to adjust the height.

Care for everyday use

Remove the outer cover and follow the product’s care instructions: gentle spot treatment, then a delicate machine cycle in water only. Air dry. Do not tumble dry or dry clean. The filling is not machine washable. Only the outer fabric of the sealed inner bag may be spot-cleaned by hand as directed on the product page.
